For over 100 years, Bishop John Carroll Cathedral School has been educating the minds and souls of many young people. Before Bishop McGuinness was built in the 1950s, our school was a high school as well as a grade school. The Sisters of Mercy began a strong tradition here which continues to this day.  Our students excel in academics and each day includes prayer and religion classes as well.  We have a very dedicated faculty and staff, many of whom have been here a long tenure.  

Mass is celebrated weekly and there are special Masses, Devotions and confessions throughout the year for students. I have worked in Catholic Schools for over 30 years and this is a wonderful school and community. Our school is very diverse , which reflects the world in which we live and is truly a strength.  Our beautiful campus is kept clean and safe. Qúy ông bà và anh chị em thân mến!
Có lẽ một số người trong chúng ta sẽ thắc mắc hỏi rằng: “Tại
sao phải gửi con em đi học trường Công Giáo mà không phải là
trường công lập?” Tôi tin rằng những điểm sau đây có thể trả lời
cho câu hỏi trên của chúng ta.
Điểm thứ nhất, khi các em học sinh được đào tạo tại môi
trường Công Giáo, các em sẽ cảm thấy thoải mái và tự do hơn khi
sống và nói về niềm tin mà không bị chế diễu. Đồng thời, qua việc
tham dự và lãnh nhận các Phép Bí Tích, các em được nuôi dưỡng
bằng ân sủng của Thiên Chúa, hầu trở nên những người công dân
gương mẫu của xã hội, và là những người Kitô hữu thánh thiện, tràn
đầy đức bác ái yêu thương của Giáo Hội.
Điểm thứ hai, thầy cô dạy học trong chương trình giáo dục
Công Giáo, thường coi công việc giáo dục của mình như là một ơn
gọi chứ không hoàn toàn chỉ là một bổn phận. Chính vì thế, họ hết
lòng tận tâm trong sứ mạng giáo dục người trẻ, nhờ đó thành tích
học tập của các em học sinh trường Công Giáo thường đạt được kết
quả rất cao trong xã hội.
Điểm thứ ba, môi trường giáo dục Công Giáo rất coi trọng về
mặt kỷ luật, vì thế các em học sinh được đào tạo sống lễ phép hơn
tại trường học, trong gia đình và ngoài xã hội. Đồng thời, nhờ cách
sống có kỷ luật, các em được trau dồi nhân cách làm người một cách
hữu hiệu hơn, cũng như đủ nghị lực vượt thắng sự cám dỗ của
những thói hư tật xấu trong xã hội vật chất hôm nay.
Điểm thứ tư, trong chương trình giáo dục tại những trường
Công Giáo, quý thầy cô dành một sự quan tâm đến việc giáo dục
từng cá nhân mỗi em học sinh một cách đặc biệt. Nhờ vậy, sự thăng
tiến về học vấn, kiến thức, nhân phẩm và cách cư xử của mỗi em
học sinh cũng được nâng lên hàng đáng kể.
Mong rằng những điểm kể trên có thể giúp chúng ta tìm được
câu trả lời cho câu hỏi: “Tại sao phải gửi con em đi học trường
Công Giáo?”

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen!
Perhaps some of us will wonder, “Why?
Why should I send my children to Catholic schools and not
public schools?" I believe the following points can shed some light on the subject.

The first point, when students are educated at a Catholic school, they will feel more comfortable and free when living and talking about their beliefs without fear of being ridiculed. At the same time, through attending and receiving the Sacraments, the children are nourished by the grace of God to become citizens who are models of society, and as holy Christians, full of the loving charity of the Church.

The Second point, teachers in Catholic schools, often consider their educational work as a gift or "calling" rather than purely a regular job. That is why teachers and staff are so devoted in the mission of educating young people and thereby help achieve success for all. The learning opportunites that Catholic school students have often let's them achieve great things in their future.

Third, the Catholic schools place great importance on discipline, so students are trained to live more respectfully while at school, at home, and in the community. At the same time, thanks to learning the value of a disciplined life, children are encouraged to be better people , as well as strong enough in character to overcome the temptations of bad habits in today's materialistic society. The fourth point, Catholic schoolteachers have a deep interest in educating each individual student, meeting them at their level and helping them grow. Thanks to that, the rise in progress for each child's level of knowledge, dignity and behavior is amazing. Hope the above points can help us find answers to the question about the value of a Catholic education.
